Oconee County approves bid award for Snows Mill and Lane Creek roundabout

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved a bid award to Sol Construction LLC for construction of a roundabout at Snows Mill Road and Lane Creek Road for a not-to-exceed price of $457,841.
The project was advertised as ITB 25-12-007. “We received 12 bids. Sol Construction LLC was the lowest responsive, responsible bidder with a bid of 457,841,” said Jody, a Public Works representative, who recommended the award. Public Works said the project is within the department’s budget.
Jody said the county expects to issue a notice to proceed within roughly two weeks and estimates about six months from notice to proceed to completion. He added the contractor indicated it can construct the roundabout under traffic and without a detour.
Commissioners voted by voice to approve the award; the motion and second were recorded but not identified by name in the meeting transcript.
Next steps include execution of contract documents and minor budget amendments up to the contract amount over the life of the project, as needed, the county said.
