District celebrates seven All‑State musicians; Saginaw High band debuts new uniforms

Carla Hardy, staff member, introduced Saginaw High School student performers and directors and presented new marching and color‑guard uniform samples to the board on Feb. 24. Trustees also recognized seven students from district schools who qualified as Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All‑State musicians.
Hardy said the district fielded seven All‑State selections this year — the largest single‑year total ever for the district — and named students, schools and ensembles. Trustees praised the students, their directors and private teachers for ‘‘demonstrated excellent talent, dedication, and hard work.’’
Hardy and the students displayed two uniform styles: a spirit uniform for Friday‑night appearances and a more formal, layered uniform for competition. Students modeled the spirit and guard uniforms on the dais. ‘‘They’ll wear the spirit uniform mainly on Friday nights,’’ Hardy said; directors said the layered design also helps during heat advisories because layers can be removed.
The board applauded the students and directors and received assurance the vendor used (Fred J. Miller) was an approved supplier from the prior month’s procurement approval. Trustees thanked the fine‑arts staff for the work of directors across the district and congratulated the All‑State students by name.
