Board recognizes El Dorado County athletes and schools hosting interscholastic ski and snowboard championships

Chuck Palmer, Senior Director of Student Services for the El Dorado Union High School District, introduced CNISSF commissioner Joel Volek and the teams. Volek said 39 schools will bring their top boys’ and girls’ skiers and snowboarders to competition, with events planned across multiple days: giant slalom for skiers on Monday, snowboard giant‑slalom on Tuesday and combined concluding events on Wednesday, followed by an awards ceremony.
Commissioner Volek noted the local teams are three‑time defending combined champions and said organizers hope to “hang the fourth combined championship banner” at the closing ceremony. Supervisors and attendees congratulated district staff, volunteer coaches and the Sierra‑at‑Tahoe community for hosting the event, and encouraged residents to attend the competitions.
No board action was required; the recognition was presented as part of the meeting’s scheduled acknowledgements.
