Council reinstates student advisory member after appeal over absences

Baraza described her school involvement — including National Honor Society, student government and robotics — and said she planned to attend meetings regularly if reinstated. Councilmember Soko commended her for coming to explain her absences and fighting to keep her seat.
Councilmember Megan Micaso moved to consider reinstatement, and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. “Motion carries. Congratulations, Miss Grace,” the mayor said after the vote.
What’s next: Baraza will retake her seat on the Student Advisory Council; no policy change on attendance rules was made.
