Hall County to execute landfill disposal agreement and consider sewer service IGA with City of Beaufort

Bill Nash presented an agreement between Hall County and Cedar Grove Landfill LLC to allow the county's Public Works and Utilities to dispose of sludge from the Spout Springs Water Reclamation Facility at the Cedar Grove Landfill in Barnesville, Ga. Nash said the estimated annual cost is $50,000 and that Cedar Grove LLC has replaced Lamar County Regional Solid Waste Authority as the operator. He described the agreed disposal rate as $75 per ton with a limit of up to 100 tons per week. Commissioners asked about distance; staff said the landfill is roughly a 90-minute drive.
Nash also presented a separate intergovernmental agreement between Hall County and the city of Beauford (transcript: "Beaufort") to provide sanitary sewage collection and treatment services for a Hall County tax parcel (parcel 08154000016). Nash said the subject property currently sits in the City of Beaufort sewer district but that Beaufort lacks immediate infrastructure nearby; the developer requested that Hall County provide sewer service based on the property's proximity to the Friendship Road sewer extension. Nash asked that the chairman be authorized to execute the IGA subject to county-attorney review.
Both items were placed on consent for the upcoming voting meeting.
