Staff said the automated locks include fail-safes to prevent people being locked inside and that security camera footage records activity outside the facilities. Staff further said regular nightly cleaning and patrols will continue; the locks allow the department to secure facilities at dusk and then make staggered checks rather than securing all restrooms simultaneously.
No formal action was taken beyond the customary opening and closing of the committee; members had no objections to the updates and the committee was adjourned.
