The Finance Committee voted to place two items on the full council agenda as emergency measures: (1) a planned change of the city's property and liability insurance carrier to Travelers to coincide with a policy renewal on April 1, and (2) acceptance of a $325,000 community cost-share account payment to fund purchase and demolition related to the Hickory Lane Detention Basin project.
Director Frank told the committee he has prepared a memo and will draft emergency legislation for the coming council meeting because the policy renewal falls on April 1. "We're going to be making a move from our existing carrier to a new carrier, named Travelers," Director Frank said, and he asked that the ordinance be placed on the next meeting agenda as an emergency.
The committee also heard from Director Bridal about a community cost-share account maintained jointly with the sewer district; Bridal said the $325,000 would cover purchase, closing costs and demolition of a single house on the Hickory Lane project site. "That covers purchase, closing costs, and demolition," Bridal said when asked how many houses the funds covered: "Just one."
Councilmembers voted in committee to place both items on the upcoming council agenda as emergency items so the city can complete the insurance renewal and proceed with the detention-basin land acquisition and demolition steps.
