Walworth County LCC schedules judging for 2025 conservation poster contest; 135 entries from five schools

Walworth County Land Conservation Committee members were asked to judge 135 entries in the countys 2025 conservation poster contest and turn in judging forms by Wednesday to meet the Southeast Area contest timeline.
A county staff member told the committee the entries hung in the hallway and that the contest produced 135 posters from five schools, including three first-time participating schools: St. Andrew Parish, Elkhorn Area High School and Eastview Elementary. Because the oldest age division (10thto12th grade) had only one entry, that submission will automatically advance; committee members were asked to rank the top three in the fourththroughsixth and sevenththroughninth grade divisions.
The staff member outlined judging criteria provided in committee packets: artistic ability, content relative to the contest theme and habitat accuracy. Entries that win at the county level will move on to the Southeast Area contest and, if successful there, to the Wisconsin Land and Water spring conference state competition.
The committee also thanked county public works staff for helping display posters in a way intended to minimize damage to the entries and the building walls. Staff said judging can occur immediately after the meeting or before the Wednesday deadline.
