Highlights staff listed included: - Courtyard project at Latelyn School: moving toward a carpentry‑focused scope and development of an architect–engineering contract. - Law enforcement center landscaping redesign: internal redesign to reduce long‑term maintenance and preliminary budget numbers solicited from a landscape firm. - White River Park: pavilion No. 2 and overflow parking lot expansion entering pre‑construction in February; county highway crews will handle the parking expansion in‑house. - Arts in the Park: a White River Park display of winning artwork in kiosks and on trail markers in partnership with HHS and local groups. - Kiosk refresh: countywide kiosk updates to reflect new County branding; staff expect prints to go to the printer by late February.
Staff also discussed winter operations, turf and trail maintenance, invasive species removals and upcoming bids for a prairie‑burn contract, which could include forestry‑type burns if recommended. The department said MOUs with Friends of White River and other partners are in draft and expected back for review in March.
On budget items, staff reviewed expense-to-date columns and CIPs they track. The White River Park pavilion and overflow parking were noted as under construction in the CIP list, and other projects (Sheriff’s Office Corey Arbor Innovation) were listed at earlier planning stages.
Committee members asked about sidewalks and directional signage in Veterans Park and about striping the Price Park lot; staff said sidewalk repairs are on the whiteboard for proposed capital projects and that they would investigate striping and directional signage further.
No formal committee action was taken; staff will continue design, procurement and maintenance planning and return with updates as needed.
