Bilingual FoodWIse coordinator resumes Head Start, senior and housing‑authority programs

Lisa, the county’s bilingual FoodWIse coordinator, reported on Feb. 17 that program staff will visit all Head Start classrooms in Walworth County in March and that Priscilla, a FoodWIse instructor, will lead those sessions.
Lisa said the program reconnected with residents at Hartwell Street, an Elkhorn apartment building owned by the local housing authority that serves people who have been determined disabled and have histories of homelessness. The FoodWIse team will cook with participants and the housing authority will supply ingredients and small kitchen items to support meals and leftovers for residents.
Lisa described ongoing weekly work at Agape House, a residential program for teenagers in the village of Walworth, where FoodWIse runs separate programming for boys and girls and provides nutrition lessons and hands‑on cooking. She also noted a new Tai Chi program — framed as fall‑prevention and mobility training — at Geneva Hills Apartments, a subsidized housing site, and school‑based classroom lessons covering identification of food groups and healthy snacks.
Lisa said programming and materials are delivered in English and Spanish as needed and that the team produces an annual report documenting county activities.
