County finance and Human Services staff reviewed year-to-date budget figures and staffing matters.
Marcia (finance) said most funds are tracking where expected for December with some program lines over budget because of additional services and high-cost placements. She noted Fund 80 was at 96% and CSA/CCS programs were at high utilization percentages tied to Medicaid-reimbursed services.
Human Services leaders reported hiring activity and open positions: a part-time CCS assistant position was under active recruitment with candidates interviewed, a previously part-time disability benefit specialist position has expanded to full time, the opioid coordinator position remained open with interviews planned, and Olivia formally started in the CLTS role on Dec. 30.
Jill recognized two employees for five years of service: Samantha Earson (child support specialist) and Lynette Peterson (disability benefit specialist/ADRC). Speakers emphasized the financial impact of benefit specialist work and the department’s need to fill identified positions to sustain service levels.
Staff also noted an upcoming agenda and suggested presentations on Northwest Connections to validate contract dollars, and closed the item with routine administrative planning. No new budget appropriations or personnel actions requiring board votes were recorded in the transcript.
