The Madison Common Council Executive Committee voted to approve register 86994, a periodic revisers ordinance that corrects technical and grammatical errors across the Madison General Ordinance and restores language inadvertently removed by an earlier ordinance.
Attorney Hass, representing the city attorney's office, told the committee the package is “mostly...grammatical or to kind of fix technical errors” and identified one substantive correction restoring struck language in section 12.045 that clarifies traffic engineering authority to post emergency traffic regulations. The committee took no substantive amendments and recorded no objections to the package.
Committee members did not request further review of individual sections. The measure passed by unanimous consent.
The revisers ordinance is a routine update the city files periodically to keep the codified ordinance aligned with enacted legislation and correct drafting errors. Committee members and staff said no additional background or public hearings were required because the changes are technical in nature.
The committee moved on to later agenda items after approving the ordinance.
