Communications staff told the City Council on Feb. 24 that the city has prepared a fact sheet and a webpage about an April 8 ballot question asking voters to approve a public‑safety sales tax of one‑quarter of one percent.
The communications representative (Miss Harmer) said the fact sheet is on the council member desks and will be posted on the city website; staff will share materials for council members who speak with constituents. The Feb. 24 memo says staff are finalizing the webpage and will post it once colleagues have reviewed the content for clarity.
Harmer also said she has launched a city podcast, called “Say More in Raymore,” and that a recent episode with Emergency Management Director Tim Baldwin covers severe‑weather preparedness. She reported that volunteers have collected almost 500 pounds of plastic bags toward a 1,000‑pound recycling goal ahead of a September target and noted the council chamber will host rotating monthly art exhibits.
No policy vote or staff request related to the ballot question was taken at the Feb. 24 council meeting; staff asked council to use the provided materials when speaking with residents.
