Blue Earth County commissioners voted Feb. 25 to reject a bid from Conlink/Commlink for fiber installation to the county Public Works building after the bidder failed to include materials in its price.
IT staff member Carrie Harvey told the board that the Commlink submission — previously presented to the board in December with an indicated price of $248,906.92 — did not include materials in the scope of work when the county asked for clarification. Harvey recommended rejecting the bid and rebidding the work. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the recommendation so staff can pursue a new procurement round.
Commissioners and staff characterized the omission as a material bid error and said they expect a corrected procurement to yield clearer, complete proposals.
