Blue Earth County approves anti-meth task-force joint powers agreement

Blue Earth County commissioners authorized the sheriff’s office Feb. 25 to enter a joint powers agreement with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Minnesota Anti‑Methamphetamine Task Force.
Sheriff Jeff Worsall told the board the agreement mirrors a similar structure used for an anti‑heroin task force, reimbursing agents for time spent on first-degree methamphetamine investigations. Worsall said the intent is to help prioritize meth cases that may have received less attention amid increases in heroin and fentanyl enforcement and to ensure methamphetamine work does not get deprioritized.
The board moved, seconded and approved the JPA without further discussion.
