The Town of Swansea Zoning Board of Adjustment voted unanimously to appoint Jessica as an alternate member at its February meeting.
Jessica introduced herself to the board and said she has lived in Swansea since 2003, raised a family here, owns property and said she has “a passion for truth and for the law” and intends to make “unbiased decisions based on facts.” Board members encouraged participation by alternates and noted alternates are expected to attend meetings and be prepared to serve when seated.
The appointment was moved and seconded; the board voted in favor and Jessica was asked to visit town hall to complete clerk paperwork before sitting as an alternate.
“I’m looking for a way that I could maybe serve the town,” Jessica told the board, adding that serving on the zoning board seemed a good fit for her interests and experience as a landowner.
The appointment was recorded as unanimous. The board chair and members welcomed Jessica and reminded her she may be called to vote whenever she is seated as an alternate.
