Kings County board introduced new UC Cooperative Extension director for Kings, Kern and Tulare counties

The Kings County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 25 heard that Leo Jimenez is the new director for the UC Cooperative Extension program overseeing Kings, Kern and Tulare counties.
Board member Matthew Boyette introduced Leo Jimenez and said Jimenez recently took the position. Jimenez told the board, “I’ll be here. As, Matthew just mentioned, I’ll be in three different counties, Kern, Kings, and Tulare.”
Jimenez said he has “over 16 years in agricultural, from research to teaching to administrative,” and that he was born and raised in Reedley and now lives in Visalia. He told supervisors he will make himself available to county residents and asked people to contact him after the meeting to exchange information: “If you’d like my contact information, just, you know, reach me after, and then we can get that over to you.”
Board members asked about a regular schedule. Jimenez said his days in Kings County will vary with his broader duties and that he expects to be in the area on “maybe Tuesdays and possibly on Thursdays,” but that the schedule is “kinda up in the air.”
No formal action or vote accompanied the announcement. Clerk staff were asked to collect Jimenez’s contact information for distribution to the board.
