The Texas Senate on Feb. 25 adopted a package of ceremonial resolutions recognizing county days, university delegations, civic groups and commemorations and approved a concurrent resolution permitting either chamber of the Legislature to adjourn for more than three days during the period starting Feb. 27 and ending March 4.
The measures, presented and supported by multiple senators from across the state, were largely approved by voice vote or by unanimous consent. Senator Zaffirini moved the concurrent resolution (SCR 20) that the Senate then adopted on a recorded roll call, yielding a tally of 30 ayes and no nays.
Senate members used the floor time to introduce and recognize visiting delegations and honorees. Senator Huffman, State Senator, opened Brazoria County Day on the floor, calling Brazoria County “where Texas as we know it began” and asking county visitors to stand and be recognized.
