City staff reported that elevator work at Nancy Hall began on Feb. 24 and that the building is closed for the duration of the upgrade.
Staff said the contractor has delivered the large control unit and hydraulic pumps and that an electrician will perform a modification the next day. Notices are posted in the lobby and staff have arranged designated phone numbers and the customer-service counter to help direct visitors who need access to upper-floor offices while the elevator is out of service.
Because of the work, upcoming council and committee meetings will take place at the library through at least the regular March meetings and possibly the next work session, staff said. For small committee meetings staff suggested holding sessions on the City Hall lobby level where practical.
No formal action was required; the announcement was an operational update and staff will provide further updates as the project proceeds.
