The Lincoln City Council voted unanimously Monday to approve a Class C liquor license and related manager application for Garage Beers LLC, d/b/a Liquid Assets Sports Bar & Grill at 2755 Jamie Lane, Suites 14–16.
The license, and the related manager application for Jennifer H. Casera, passed on a 7-0 roll call after the applicant described plans to convert the site from a nightclub and live-music venue into a family-friendly sports bar and grill. Applicant Drew Salinger told the council the owners "all live in the area" and are "revamping it to be a family friendly sports bar and grill." Investigator Scott Parker of the Lincoln Police Department described the temporary operating-permit process and noted the state generally issues those permits so an applicant can operate while ownership or licensing details are reviewed.
The council heard a short presentation from the applicant and Investigator Parker, who explained that temporary operating permits allow a business to operate under an existing liquor license while the state reviews changes in ownership and other application details. Parker also acknowledged a mistake in the investigator's report about sole ownership, saying the report had incorrectly listed Jennifer Casera as the sole owner and that other owners exist but that the department had found no violations or concerns relating to them.
No members of the public spoke in opposition. A motion to approve items 4(a) and 4(b) passed on a 7-0 roll call. The roll call recorded the following yes votes: Beckius, Weber, Bowers, Carlson, Doudin, Schaub and Washington.
The council did not attach additional conditions to the license at the meeting. The approved temporary operating status means state review and any state-issued permit conditions will also govern the business's immediate operations.
