Members of the South Russell Village street committee told council on Feb. 24 that the Bell Road East project has been postponed after state or regional transportation partners removed the project from the 2025 schedule.
Committee members said they received word secondhand that ODOT (or a partnering authority) had decided to delay the project, and that the village's engineer, Eric, will need to follow up to verify the change and to determine implications for Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) and other funding sources. "We allegedly are not gonna do it because the word on the street is ODOT pushed it," a committee member said.
Council members expressed concern about downstream impacts to related work and asked staff to contact the engineer and funding partners to confirm scheduling, expected funding effects and alternatives for prioritized culvert or stormwater repairs in the interim.
No formal action was taken; council asked Eric and staff to get verification from ODOT and from the OPWC contact and to return with an updated schedule and funding implications.
