Planning commission urges public input as Hickman County land-use plan nears completion; meetings scheduled

The Hickman County planning commission reported to the Board of Commissioners on Feb. 24 that the county’s land-use plan project is more than halfway complete and that several public meetings are scheduled in late February and March.
Commissioner Clark, reporting for the planning commission, reminded residents and commissioners that public meetings on the land-use plan will be held at several locations and urged broad participation. He listed meeting dates and sites during his remarks, and told the board the project is approximately 55–60% complete; staff indicated draft materials will be posted as the process proceeds and that the planning calendar will be updated.
Commissioner Clark emphasized that, while the land-use plan is not a binding regulation, it sets the tone for future zoning change decisions and gives residents an opportunity to influence county priorities. The board encouraged attendance and said the planning commission will circulate meeting times and locations in the county meeting calendar.
