The City Council held a public hearing on the annual renewal of existing city liquor licenses, including retail restaurant-limited retail, resort, bar-and-grill, microbrewery and winery permits.
Staff report and schedule: Kylie Stone, City Clerk, reported all licensees except Dog House submitted renewal applications for this licensing period. The Green Door’s renewal requires a separate transfer-of-location application; staff has been working with that licensee and the transfer and renewal for The Green Door will be considered at the March 10 City Council meeting.
Council questions: Councilmembers asked about the tally of available license types: the clerk said the city is at its limit for retail licenses. There will be five bar-and-grill licenses available once the Dog House license is returned, and the clerk identified six “parked” licenses and noted Cloud 9 (the airport license) will reach the end of a two-year parked period in June. The clerk also confirmed that staff will check for outstanding city fines (utilities, waste management, parking) before renewal.
Public comment: No members of the public came forward to oppose or speak to the renewals at this hearing.
Ending: The public hearing was closed and the item assigned to the finance committee, which meets next Tuesday; The Green Door transfer and renewal will be heard March 10.
