HELENA — Lawmakers heard House Bill 235 on Wednesday, a proposal to allow owners to voluntarily cancel or suspend vehicle registration to remove liability and to permit impleader so a user who operates a vehicle with canceled or suspended registration can be held responsible for fines and civil claims.
Representative Neil Durham, sponsor of HB235, said the bill grew from constituent cases in which owners who expected a scrap or towing of an old vehicle continued to receive tickets or liability after the vehicle left their possession. Durham said…
