Vice Chair Vance moved to remove biennial designations placed on three Office of Public Defender decision packages (DP1304, DP1404 and DP1504); the motion passed by voice vote. The committee then voted to reconsider earlier action on DP1 (statewide present law adjustment for personal services) in the Department of Justice after staff discovered rounding differences between the spreadsheet used on the floor and amounts in the budgeting system. Following reconsideration, the subcommittee adopted the corrected DP1 totals as provided by staff.
The committee also moved to reconsider and then correct DP23 amounts for central services in the Department of Justice and the Department of Corrections to align with figures in the budgeting (I BAR) system. The corrected DP23 amounts were adopted by voice vote.
How the votes were recorded: votes were taken by voice and no roll-call tallies were read; committee staff recorded that Senator McGilvray voted "aye" by proxy on the motions noted during the meeting.

Companion bill items discussed: staff said the companion bill will include a statutory amendment to reflect two additional district court judges assigned to the thirteenth judicial district (Yellowstone County) and a general-fund transfer ($40,000) to a state special-revenue account established by House Bill 83 (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons task force account). The committee discussed potential reporting requirements, including existing reports the MMIP program already files, and an item to request information about DOC tablet monitoring and IT reporting for the corrections tablets; staff said much of the IT reporting goes to the Legislative Finance Committee but portions appear in the interim budget committee quarterly reports.
The subcommittee concluded that the Department of Corrections executive action will remain open for final work the following day; executive action on other agencies could be closed at staff discretion.
