Chandler earns CEASE recertification for 2024–25 after staff training efforts

The city of Chandler received recertification for 2024 and 2025 under the CEASE (Cities Empowered Against Sexual Exploitation) program, the Arizona Anti‑Trafficking Network announced Feb. 20.

John Mesa, CEO and president of the Arizona Anti‑Trafficking Network and a Chandler resident, presented the plaque and said the recertification recognizes the city’s commitment to annual retraining and efforts to equip staff to identify and respond to trafficking crimes.

“To earn CEASE designations, cities must train at least 75% of their workforce and integrate the education into ongoing staff development,” Mesa said during the presentation.

Council and staff thanked employees and partners who contributed to the effort. The presentation cited Chandler’s partnership with CIS (named in the presentation) and singled out police‑department members, the mayor and city management for prioritizing anti‑trafficking training and awareness.

City staff also noted the designation builds on a certification earned in 2023, and the city thanked specific public‑safety and administrative staff involved in achieving recertification.

The plaque was presented during the council’s scheduled special appearances; Mesa described CEASE as a training and resource program that helps local governments combat human trafficking and support victims. No formal council action was required to accept the plaque; councilmembers expressed appreciation and planned to continue the city’s anti‑trafficking efforts.
