Resident asks Goodyear to review Cantamia dog park location amid barking complaints

Peter Marjesic, a resident of the Cantamia gated community, told the council on Jan. 27 he wants the city to re‑examine the location of his neighborhood dog park, which sits near homes on Cantamia Loop and Cantamia Parkway.
"I am not against dogs," Marjesic said. "This is really a request to say to take a thoughtful look of where this park is located in relationship to how we, as a city, have set up and looked where we've put dog parks in the city of Goodyear." He said barking is persistent in the afternoons and mornings, that he has recordings, and that the park sits centrally in the development with homes around it.
Marjesic compared the Cantamia dog park's location to other city dog parks such as Roscoe and Friendship, and urged code compliance staff to examine whether Cantamia's layout meets the city's intent. He provided handouts to council members.
The mayor asked staff to take the materials; the city clerk confirmed the council would review the information and get back to Marjesic.
