Commissioners agree to wait for July population data before redrawing commission districts

Using the current data, Crowell said the variance between the largest and smallest district was approximately 9.22% — inside a commonly applied 10% tolerance. He recommended waiting for the Secretary of State’s certified population data on July 1, 2025, before making a final determination so the county could use the most recent counts in any redraw.
Commissioners agreed to continue studying boundary data, review the July 1 certification and revisit the question in September after the budget process. Staff noted that a final decision could require redrawing district boundaries and that any change would affect candidate filings for the next election cycle.
