Board approves media-center furniture and baseball-light purchases; construction updates set open house for March 10

At the Feb. 24 meeting the board approved purchases tied to ongoing construction and renovation projects and received progress updates on several capital projects.
The board approved a special-exemption cooperative purchase for media-center furniture from Pulver Cove for $339,620.42. District staff said the purchase yields a price below available cooperative pricing and will outfit the new media center with movable shelving, tables and storage; staff said the lower price allowed the district to include additional mobile stacks and increase flexibility. The motion passed by voice vote; the transcript records the board's assent but not a roll-call tally.
Separately the board approved replacement of Carroll High School baseball field lights with Musco (purchase $181,637) and installation by Custer Electric ($67,500). Staff said the project will be funded from a previous bond issue (series 02/2018) and argued the replacement improves safety, reduces maintenance risk and allows conversion to LED. The board approved the lights and installation; staff said installation quotes were solicited and the lowest qualified installer was recommended.
Operations and Safety director Doctor Bidding and staff showed construction progress for Willow Creek Middle School and the high-school additions; presenters said major mechanical, electrical and plumbing work is complete in many wings, carpet and paint are being installed in classroom areas and the cafeteria and media-center additions are taking visible shape. Bidding said the administration center punch list is nearly complete and invited the public to an open house at the new administration center on Monday, March 10 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., ahead of the board's regular meeting.
Staff said surplus or auction plans will be developed for replaced furniture and that some site work (permanent asphalt) is weather-dependent and will follow in spring when ground conditions permit. The board approved the purchases and accepted the construction updates.
