187th District Court issues multiple pleas, sentences and remands during packed docket

SAN ANTONIO — The 187th District Court, presided over by Judge Stephanie Boyd, handled a full criminal docket that produced multiple guilty findings, sentences and procedural orders on a range of cases from plea agreements to revoked community supervision.

Judge Boyd opened and controlled the proceedings, calling each matter in turn and instructing parties to appear when their names were called. Several defendants either entered pleas the court accepted or were found to have violated terms of community supervision and were sentenced.

Among the more significant outcomes, the court followed plea agreements or revoked supervision and imposed prison terms in several cases. Dylan Jacob Skinner — who had earlier entered a no-contest plea — was sentenced under the plea agreement; the court imposed four years in prison, an affirmative finding of family violence and a $1,500 fine, and ordered no contact with the victim. Dylan Skinner addressed the court and said, "I apologize for the court and my family," before the sentence was imposed.

The court granted a state motion and revoked community supervision in the case of David Jamar Jones, following pleas of true to alleged supervision violations; the judge imposed a one-year term in the state jail facility under the negotiated disposition.

In another revocation hearing, the court found Joe Angel Gutierrez in violation of his supervision and sentenced him to 10 years in prison after hearing testimony and argument from counsel.
