A Miami County resident urged the Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 19 to expand local services for commercial driver’s licenses, publish a multi‑year plan for bridge and culvert repairs and provide clearer public detail after what he described as concerning actions in the treasurer’s office.
Dino Mata, who identified himself as a Miami County resident, spoke during the meeting’s public‑comment period. “All your school bus drivers… and those that work at Tri Co… each of us needs a commercial driver’s license to drive for those people and we have to go to another county to get that done,” Mata said, urging the county to explore providing CDL processing locally.
Mata also said he understood an inventory of bridges and culverts had been completed in recent years and that “28 bridges or culverts were designated and identified as needing critical repairs,” and he asked the commission to provide a time frame and cost estimates so the work can be included in long‑range planning. “It sounds like there was…
