Whalen said the county purchased a new CAD/records/jail-management system and expects to go live around April 28; the 11 MDT licenses were purchased in December for the fire department’s use. He told commissioners the capital budget includes roughly $100,000 for the project and that one local vendor and a second company with a Jefferson City base (and an Olathe office) are known suppliers; staff will solicit other bids through the RFP.
When asked about procurement timeline and warranties, Whalen said he expected installation could be completed in time for the CAD go‑live and that most equipment carries a one‑year warranty; extended warranties on computers are possible. He described mounting brackets and antennas as durable and said the primary work once vendors respond will be measuring apparatus for mounts and running electrical connections.
No formal vote was recorded during the study session; Whalen sought the fire board’s permission to proceed with drafting and issuing the RFP.
