Miami County planning staff on Jan. 29 presented a conditional-use permit application from Youth Front to expand its camp onto an adjacent 90-acre tract, roughly doubling cabins and adding a new pond, improved pool facilities and a relocated, higher-visibility entrance.
Kenny Cook, Miami County Planning Department, told commissioners the property already operates under a CUP granted when zoning was adopted in 1992 and that the current proposal incorporates the 90-acre tract into a single, updated CUP with conditions including stormwater review and dust-control requirements.
The Planning Commission recommended approval with conditions, including a provision that dust control would be required after construction of the eighth new cabin or at 50% of the new improvements, and a 10-year expiration on the CUP.
