Commission approves routine agreements, construction contract for horse barns and software amendments

Johnson County commissioners on Feb. 24 approved multiple routine consent and administrative items, including annual agreements, a construction contract for horse barns, a lease amendment for community corrections software integration, and a software usage agreement.
The board approved the Firefly Children and Family Alliance annual item; Linda Reesmiller, director of prevention services, appeared by Zoom and was acknowledged. The board also approved an engagement letter with Peters Franklin for financial consulting, and awarded a construction contract to Duke Commercial for the Johnson County horse barns. Change orders for White Oak Commercial Group on a Highway Temporary Saltbourn project were ratified.
Court Services Director Tony Povinelli requested approval of a first amendment to the lease/services agreement with Buddy US LLC to allow integration between Buddy and the county's other software systems. "We're asking for the amendment to get signed so that they can start to integrate with the software program that we use," Povinelli said. The board approved the amendment.
The board also approved a Corewire software usage agreement. Several items were noted as not pending legal review on the record; where staff stated an item was pending legal, the transcript records that the recorder item was pending legal review.
Other routine business included approval of claims and credit card reports, and approval of the commissioners' minutes for the Jan. 27 regular meeting. During public comment a speaker praised highway and fleet workers for keeping county roads maintained and county vehicles presentable; the speaker asked employees to "put gas in them, clean them up" and thanked night crews for working during storms.
All consent and administrative items in this package passed on voice votes; the transcript records motions, seconds, and the chair's calls for aye/oppose on each item.
