Finance staff reported that property tax bills were mailed and due May 1, and business-license renewal notices went out with an April 30 due date. Auditors will be on-site starting the next day for an annual financial audit expected to last about two weeks.
The city is in the final stages of converting to a new billing system (GovSense). Staff said the conversion team is focusing initially on utility billing — the area that affects the most customers — and has paused some permit and construction paperless-application work to concentrate contractor resources on ensuring utility-billing data is ported correctly. Staff said online payments are functioning but that customers must enter their name exactly as it appears on the bill to complete payments reliably. "We're getting there," the finance director said of the conversion.
Ending: Staff said the billing migration is the top finance priority and that, once utility billing is fully ported and stable, the city will resume work on other e-application modules and the customer portal.
