Lynbrook school board honors and accepts multiple retirements, schedules photo

Trustees formally accepted retirement resignations for staff including Kathleen Schuler (teacher’s aide, Marion Street), Mary Prendergast (teacher assistant, West End Elementary), Kathleen Freehill (kindergarten teacher, Glenbrook Kindergarten Center), Anne Conway (teacher, Marion Street), Rita Callahan (second grade teacher, West End Elementary), Robin Frieman (English teacher, South Middle School), Karen Goulet (family and consumer science teacher), and Mary Jean LaMarca (mathematics teacher, Lynbrook High School). Each resignation included an effective retirement date and a recital of the employee’s years of service and accomplishments. Many of the resolutions were read aloud by board members and then accepted as part of the meeting’s consent items.
The board invited the retirees to come forward for a photograph after the formal remarks. Several trustees and administrators praised the retirees’ decades of service, classroom leadership, extracurricular contributions, committee work and community involvement. The resolutions list service anniversaries ranging from about 16 to 31 years and several describe leadership roles such as union representation, curriculum work, summer-program direction, and committee membership.
All of the individual retirement resolutions were recorded on the meeting agenda and were included in the board’s consent actions. The meeting record shows the board accepted the resignations with the stated effective dates (most effective 06/27/2025 or 06/30/2025, one noted as 09/24/2025). No additional personnel actions, replacements or interim assignments were specified during the meeting; the board indicated photo recognition of retirees and expressed gratitude for their service.
