Elyria committee authorizes lien for emergency demolition at 994 Gulf Road

Daryl Farkas, Building Official, told the committee he was requesting a lien "for an emergency demolition in the amount of $11,750. That's for the complete removal." Farkas said the home had multiple legacy complaints, a leaning rear foundation wall and had been abandoned; the city received a complaint and the structure was removed.
Committee members asked for location clarification and confirmation of the property's condition; Mrs. Saworka asked whether the house was between Hilliard and after Hilliard and confirmed it was on the ravine side. Farkas confirmed multiple legacy complaints and structural issues.
After reading the committee report noting attached properties for boarding, securing and demolition charges, the committee moved, seconded and voted to carry the motion. The chair called for a vote and announced, "All in favor, please use a vote and sign aye. Aye. Opposed? Motion carried."
