Templeton health staff reports one positive molecular test; norovirus and pertussis noted

At the Town of Templeton Board of Health meeting on Feb. 24, health staff reported on communicable disease activity for the previous two weeks.
The staff member said there were 39 molecular tests in the reporting period and one positive result. The staff member said norovirus is “running rampant,” that whooping cough (pertussis) cases had been identified among children, and that COVID-19 activity was not unusual. The staff member advised handwashing as a primary preventive measure.
Board members commented on the importance of hand hygiene. One board member said they would "pick up papers to run again," indicating routine surveillance activities will continue. The staff member said they would follow up and provide routine reports to the board.
No formal action was taken on communicable disease surveillance at the meeting.
