Departmental updates and announcements

Fire and police departments provided staffing updates. The fire department reported final pre-employment screens are pending for its last candidate; police staff said Officer Hendrickson is progressing through field training and Officer Dan Fyle, a lateral hire from the Village of Pewaukee with prior experience at Waukesha County, will start March 8, which will bring the department to full staffing. The police lieutenant also encouraged applications for the Lake Country Citizens Academy, which begins March 12; the application deadline is March 2.
Building, occupancy and inspection work was also noted as ongoing: village staff are updating occupancy counts and inspecting buildings to ensure accurate reporting to state agencies.
Closed session motion
The board made and seconded a motion to recess into closed session under state statute 19.85(1)(e) to permit the village board to receive information and provide negotiating direction on a possible property purchase where bargaining reasons require confidentiality. The motion passed on a roll-call vote; multiple trustees recorded affirmative votes and Trustee DeBoer was excused.
