Representative Garner moved to introduce RS 32,163 C1, RS 32,168, RS 32,279, RS 32,164 and RS 32,308. The chair put the motion to a voice vote; Representative Mathias asked to be recorded as opposed and was recorded as a no. The motion carried.
Later, Representative Alfieri moved to introduce a second group of RS measures: RS 32,305, RS 32,305 C1 (corrected in committee to RS 32,055 C1), RS 32,288, RS 32,289 and RS 32,335. A correction was offered on the floor noting the second item should be RS 32,055 C1 (the mover had omitted a zero). Representative Hawkins said she “struggle[s] with RS 32,305 even crossing any thresholds until we see RS 32,308 across the floor,” but proceeded with the group motion. The motion carried; Representatives Gannon and Mathias asked to be recorded as nay on the group motion.
Members asked what introduction means for subsequent hearings; the chair reiterated that introducing or printing an RS does not guarantee the committee will hold a hearing on every item and invited members to raise concerns privately if they wanted to oppose or prioritize a particular RS for hearing.
The committee concluded its business and adjourned.
