Summary
The Executive Subcommittee of the State Building Commission approved acquisition of about 1,305 acres in a multijurisdictional wetland conservation project tied to the Hatchie River; Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency staff said the parcels are owned by the same family and will be part of a larger conservation effort.
The Executive Subcommittee of the State Building Commission on Tuesday approved the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s request to acquire two tracts totaling about 1,305 acres that are part of a downstream wetland conservation project on the Hatchie River.
Tim Churchill, chief of real estate for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, told the subcommittee the two tracts are effectively part of the same property even though they lie in different counties and that the acquisition will feed into a larger conservation wetland project downstream on the Hatchie River. “We are here to request approval of acquisition for a couple of tracts ... total amount of acres is 1,305,” Churchill said for the record.
The record shows one tract is in Hardeman County and the other in McNairy County; Churchill said most of the acreage will be in Hardeman County. Comptroller Jason Mumpower moved approval of both items “as described,” and the motion was seconded and adopted unanimously. Secretary Hargett, Comptroller Mumpower, Treasurer Lillard and Commissioner Bryson registered attendance and voted in favor.
No public comment was received for the item, according to staff. The subcommittee took the two TWRA items together and approved them with a single vote.
