Representative Brandon Mitchell, sponsor of HB278, told the committee the bill consolidates and standardizes filing periods and withdrawal deadlines across many chapters of Idaho law to reduce confusion and to better accommodate military and overseas ballot timelines. “We've been trying to get some dates and deadlines adjusted on the for elections to kinda help out with timing of things,” Mitchell said, noting the changes were developed with county clerks.
