The Martin County CRA voted to withdraw a previously discussed draft letter to the Board of County Commissioners that would have raised concerns about a possible proposal to eliminate the CRA board.
Susan Korres told the board she had prepared a draft letter at the board’s prior request but recommended postponing delivery after discussions with county administration and commissioners. A motion to withdraw the draft letter and keep the option to send it in the future was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; the transcript records the affirmative vote but no roll-call tally.
Korres also reviewed upcoming timelines: the CRA Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) will be presented to the CRA at the March meeting (March 24), neighborhood advisory committees will review materials beforehand, and the county’s annual CRA report is due to the state by March 30 and must be posted on the CRA website. Korres asked board members to coordinate with communications staff for photos and brief statements to include in the annual report and noted the board picture planned for the March meeting.
Communications staff Elise Rafa presented the fiscal-year 2025 communications and outreach summary for November through February. Rafa said outreach tactics included a bilingual project webpage and QR-enabled signage for the El Camino groundbreaking, targeted email campaigns to neighborhood advisory committees, social media and media outreach. Rafa reported sample metrics including a 7,706-email campaign with a 42.73% open rate, a 24,269-email sequence with an average 49.56% open rate for NAC outreach, and a 5,706-email campaign tied to architectural-design standards outreach with a 52.60% open rate. She noted 50 trifold brochures were mailed to Hobe Sound stakeholders and that the CRA launched two completion videos in partnership with MCTV.
No formal changes to the CIP were approved at the meeting; staff asked board members to attend the March meeting when the draft CIP and annual report will be presented.
