Martin MPO elects Sarah Hurd as chair; Edward Campey named vice chair and several committee appointments approved

The Martin County Metropolitan Planning Organization governing board held its annual election of officers and committee appointments at the February meeting.
Per the MPO bylaws, Commissioner Sarah Hurd was nominated and elected chair; the motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Edward Campey was nominated and elected vice chair; that motion also passed unanimously. MPO staff explained the eligibility criteria in the bylaws: prospective officers must either have completed the MPOAC institute training or have two years’ service on the MPO; only three current members met that requirement.
The board appointed Commissioner Hurd as the MPO’s primary representative to the Florida MPO Advisory Council (MPOAC) and Commissioner Blake Capps as the alternate. For the Treasure Coast Transportation Council (TCTC) the board named the chair (Hurd) and vice chair (DePaolo) as members and appointed three alternates: Commissioners Hetherington, Vargas and Mayfield. The board voted unanimously on those appointments.
The governing board also nominated and unanimously approved Mayor Carmine DePaolo to serve as chair of the Local Coordinating Board for Transportation Disadvantage (LCB); MPO staff said the membership for the LCB is prescribed in state statute and that the LCB meets quarterly.
All votes on officers and committee assignments at the meeting were unanimous; no contested nominations were recorded.
