CRA staff report progress on Old Palm City, Park Drive and New Monrovia projects

Martin County CRA staff told the board that several capital projects within CRA districts have progressed to design and procurement stages, though construction schedules remain subject to contractor preconstruction activities and outstanding funding in some cases.
Susan Korres of the Office of Community Development reviewed active projects. She said Cornell Avenue improvements and the Waterfront Passive Park in Old Palm City have reached agreed conceptual engineering scopes with CapTech and will move into design. Korres said Park Drive improvements in Port Salerno are expected to proceed under a contract with Ferrerra Constructions that the board approved on Feb. 11; she noted the contract lists a substantial-completion period of about 210 calendar days but actual start and progress depend on preconstruction meetings and finalized contracts.
Korres also said New Monrovia Park improvements will advance to the next design milestone (60 percent) and that New Monrovia neighborhood improvements will reach 60 percent design while unpaved-roadway work is at 30 percent design. She and other staff clarified that some projects await grant funding before construction can begin.
Board members asked about specific unpaved-road locations; Korres confirmed the 40 Third and Fields project remains on the list and said the neighborhood advisory committee recommended a separate Dixie Park allocation for the current cycle. She and staff also discussed connections between Murray Street and the project areas and said crews will repave short connector sections where needed.
On El Camino (a separate project noted in the communications report and staff remarks), Korres said county staff are still awaiting grant approvals and that federal-level processing delays or freezes have held some items pending; she said the project is ready to move to construction once funding is confirmed but could not give a construction start date.
There was no formal action requested or taken on these capital-project updates during the meeting.
