Gallatin County Fiscal Court approves routine financial measures, appoints library trustee and schedules meetings

The Gallatin County Fiscal Court on Jan. 9 approved a series of routine financial measures, confirmed a library board appointment and set meeting dates, then voted to enter a closed session under state law.
The court approved minutes from a December special meeting, authorized payment of monthly bills, approved December budget transfers totaling $29,800, and approved several interfund cash transfers. Those transfers included a transfer from the general fund to the jail for $50,000; additional transfers described in the meeting transcript included transfers described as “general to ambulance for 50,” “general to 911 for 10” and “wireless to 911 for 15” (units not specified in the transcript). The court also received and accepted quarterly accruals for October through December. The court advanced a budget amendment listed as ordinance 010925 (first reading).
The court accepted the Gallatin County Public Library Board of Trustees’ recommendation to appoint Kerry Alexander to a four-year term to replace Amanda O’Connor, whose term expired Dec. 31, 2024. The nomination was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
The court set the regular meeting schedule as the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the same location, with the exceptions that February’s meeting will move to Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. and June’s meeting will move to June 16 at 6 p.m., motions that passed on voice vote.
At the end of the public session, the court voted to enter a closed session citing KRS 61.810(1)(b).
