Moore said she and her secretary sometimes work alone on the third floor and that unescorted defendants and other visitors can enter her office area when staff are absent; she said a small latch exists but does not make her feel secure. She described a few “uncomfortable instances” involving angry defendants and asked to get estimates before pursuing work further.
A commissioner offered to review options with Moore this week and advised her to proceed with whatever measures she needs for safety; Moore said she would return to the court in a couple of weeks with estimates or ideas for the changes.
The request was framed as a permission-to-seek-estimates item; the court did not approve expenditures during the meeting.
