Head Start director says change‑of‑scope application under revision; refunding application to come to board

Acadia Parish Head Start staff told the personnel/insurance/curriculum committee on Feb. 25 that the program's change‑of‑scope request related to an enrollment reduction has been returned by the Office of Head Start for revisions and that staff are meeting with the program specialist this week to address the changes.
The Head Start monthly summary for February was included in board materials, staff said. The packet also contains a refunding application summary that staff said will be brought to the full board for action at the next board meeting.
Committee members asked for clarification about which sites would lose slots under the enrollment reduction. Staff said reductions are based on current site enrollment; Ross Head Start site was cited as a site with declining enrollment and one that has not been able to fill 17 slots in the current budget year. Staff said the program plans to reduce funded slots to match current enrollment so the program does not lose federal funds and can reallocate funds to program improvements.
Head Start director Miss Evans and staff will continue coordinating with the Office of Head Start and will present the refunding application to the board for approval at a future meeting.
