West Bend council approves MGT search contract, Westbury Bank aqua-park naming and a slate of infrastructure and zoning actions

The West Bend Common Council on Feb. 17 authorized an executive search contract for a new city administrator, approved naming rights for the Regner Park aqua park with Westbury Bank, accepted county grant funding for a city housing study and cleared several public-works and election-related items.

The meeting, held at City Hall and properly noticed under Wisconsin law, opened with routine approvals and included ceremonial items (an oath for new police officer Hunter Schrader and a proclamation recognizing adult school crossing guards), followed by substantive votes on hiring a search firm, park sponsorship, street vacation procedures, polling-place relocations and code changes affecting aldermanic pay.

Why it matters: the MGT contract starts the formal search for the city’s next administrator following the incumbent’s resignation; the naming-rights agreement brings near-term revenue and in-kind marketing to a new public amenity; the housing study grant will deliver outside consultant analysis of local housing options; and the public-works and polling-place actions affect where and how residents will receive city services and vote.

City moves forward with administrator search firm

After a staff presentation on options for filling the administrator vacancy, the council voted to proceed with MGT (formerly GovHR) to manage the executive search on a services contract not to exceed $25,000 after attorney review. Councilmembers discussed timeline and cost; staff said MGT quoted a flat fee with marketing and printing contained in that cap and that travel or lodging for out-of-area finalists would be extra.

Alderman Allen moved to begin the process with MGT on a not-to-exceed $25,000 contract; the motion passed 7–1. Council members said the firm was used previously for a city manager search and for other municipal studies and noted a typical search timeline of a few months to produce finalists, depending on scheduling and candidate notice requirements.
