Appointments: The commission consented to party‑submitted appointees to the Board of Elections (Republican nominees Robert Abbott and Barbara Boyer) and appointed Clifford Rushin, Roger Jackson and Ellery Dunn to the Macon‑Bibb Fire Civil Service Board. The commission also noted a prior unanimous add to the Rosa Parks Board (Scott Mitchell) from the earlier session.
District attorney communications contract: Commissioners authorized the mayor to execute an agreement with Vera Causa Group LLC to provide public‑information officer and strategic‑advisor services to the district attorney’s office for $54,000. The DA requested the service and staff said the expense is within the office’s budget and will come from the district attorney general fund.
Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG): The commission approved grant agreements distributed from the county’s ESG allocation: United Way of Central Georgia ($25,106) for emergency shelter and case management; Macon‑Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council ($48,675) for rental/utility assistance and case management; Family Advancement Ministries ($32,000) for rental/utility prevention assistance; and Scribe Line/SafeHouse of Central Georgia ($42,615) for domestic‑violence shelter and services.
Other items: The board accepted a donation of 11 bike racks from BikeWalk Macon (installation to be performed by county crews) and approved a contract for Splash Management Services with Rum Creek Enterprises LLC ($170,000) from SPLOST funds. The county will maintain the bike racks at locations that may be adjusted based on project work and site conditions.
The commission then recessed to executive session and later reported no action items from the session that required votes.
